Who am I? My name is Marnie Blackman and I live in New Richmond, Wisconsin. A Twin Cities native and Burnsville graduate, my passion for babies began when I was a small child. Always wanting to care for children, I began my journey to becoming a doula at age 10 when I started babysitting and then became a nanny at age 15. That passion grew exponentially when I began my own family with the natural drug-free births of my own children. I am happily married to my fantastic husband Bret and I have 3 sons, 3 daughters as well as a stepson and stepdaughter.
What do I do besides caring for babies and their families?
A self-professed Scrabble nerd, I also love to cook, garden, care for my animals, build water gardens and spend time with my family. My children are extremely active in sports and other activities, so they keep me hopping!
My birth philosophy? I believe the process of birth in today's world has become overly medicalized. What should be a natural life process has become viewed as a medical emergency. By educating and empowering women and their partners, together we can bring the power back where it belongs- in the woman- giving them the knowledge and tools to make the best decisions for them and their babies during pregnancy, birth and beyond.
